Signal 1 — The rise of aging societies
Global population ageing is increasing demand for elderly care, driving governments and industries to explore household AI robots as part of future care systems.
Set in a speculative future world, this project explores how a promotional marketing campaign introduces and sells an everyday Family AI Robot to the public through a consistent multi-channel experience.

This project explores how emerging shifts in ageing, care and emotional AI could shape future products. Through faint signals and a what-if scenario, the Family AI Robot was developed as a speculative artefact and introduced through a multi-channel promotional campaign.
In the future, people work longer hours and live farther apart. Elderly parents spend their days alone, while children grow up surrounded by screens instead of care. Emotional AI has evolved beyond assistants — it learns, adapts, and connects.
"How might we design a household AI companion that responds to the needs of an ageing population while providing both practical and emotional support?"
Global population ageing is increasing demand for elderly care, driving governments and industries to explore household AI robots as part of future care systems.
AI is moving beyond functional assistance toward companionship and emotional support, suggesting a future role for robots in addressing caregiver shortages and social isolation.
In 2075, the government launches the Family AI Robot Registration Scheme to address an ageing population and growing demand for home-based care. Certified AI companions support daily routines, health monitoring and emotional wellbeing.
As these robots become part of everyday life, concerns emerge around emotional dependency, delayed responses and the growing role of AI in family care.
AI companionship shifts from a consumer product to a regulated part of everyday society.
